On my machine the AutomaticFullBackup key was there, but had no values, which presumably means defaults all around. use EaseUS Partition Master (free home use edition) to shift your C: 100MB to the right and expand the SR partition to 200MB. If you then start copying other files to the same disk, some of the blocks formerly occupied by the 700 MB file will get overwritten. The OS gets nailed by malware sometimes, and breaks portions of Win--especially restore, and virus updates. Use Windows XP Mode (Windows 7 Professional/Ultimate) or a VM through VirtualBox if you need compatibility with older applications. Windows 7 looks similar but a little more full featured.

The reason wiping the file doesn’t help, of course, is that before the file’s blocks get overwritten, VSC will save them to the shadow copy.
